Project Leadership Essentials

Project Management Fundamentals

Project Leadership Essentials is a one day course directed to those who are responsible for leading a project and/or a project team. Project Leaders are accountable for achieving project results. This is an entry level course for active project leaders and has no pre-requisites.

Course Length: 1 Day

Course Description

Project Leadership Essentials, enables project managers/leaders to deliver successful projects on time, on budget and in scope.  This course will provide participants with an understanding of project leadership as well as skills in using project leadership tools and templates.  You will become aware of the criticality of determining what the need for the project may be and to consider multiple solutions to the customer or client need.

Project Leadership Essentials will challenge your views of the project manager/leader.  Clearly, project managers need to manage but they also must lead. This course will provide participants with an understanding of general leadership theory and relate it to the project environment. In addition to the general and current views on leadership and management you will learn how to influence others when you have neither the positional power nor legitimate authority.  You will also discover ways to motivate others when you do not have access to traditional management levers.  Other topics that will be covered are how to address team toxicity, team dysfunction, leading up, having difficult conversations and reward and recognition.  This course will also touch on virtual teams as they are becoming more prominent.

Purpose

This course will give you further immediate returns on your learning investment by providing you with a detailed work book and project templates.   You will learn about project leadership from ‘concept to cash’ or from the initial contemplation of a project to the realization of its benefits after successful implementation.  The course culminates with a 2 hour in class simulation on the final day to provide real life practice of what has been learned in the course.
